Peddling Influence?

Lobbying is part and parcel of our democracy. So we all have a right to know who is bending who’s ear.

As an MP I am lobbied all the time.  For example, should the Government allow a third runway at Heathrow? What are the pros and cons? Should we allow genetically modified crops to be grown in our fields. Yes or no?

My Select Committee is now calling for a mandatory register of lobbying activity, provided for by law, independently managed and enforced, and which would include details of both the lobbyists and those being lobbied.

It is long overdue.
