7,840 households in Pendle have been helped with heating and insulation grants over the past eight years according to figures released this week by local MP Gordon Prentice.

He says the Warm Front scheme offers grants of up to £2,700 to households on a qualifying benefit. Those who do not qualify for a full grant could still get a £300 rebate off the cost of installing new central heating or repairing a broken one..

Speaking from his constituency office in Nelson earlier today, the MP said; “I am told that the take up of Warm Front grants in Pendle is amongst the highest anywhere in the country. And given the kind of winter weather we get around here that is very good news.”

To be considered for the full Warm Front scheme residents must own their own home or rent it from a private landlord and be on a qualifying benefit. To be considered for the £300 heating rebate residents must be over 60, own their own home or rent it from a private landlord.
