What the media says about me...
"Paul Flynn and Gordon Prentice have become this Parliament’s saltiest select committee interrogators. They have been consistent value for money, pulling apart a succession of crooks, con men and blue-sky pseuds."Quentin Letts, Daily Mail, May 2008

Pendle MP, Gordon Prentice, is to meet the Trustees of the Birmingham based Islamic Help next Wednesday (24 March) to discuss their plans for the future of Brierfield Mills, the iconic Grade II listed building which the charity initially hoped would be converted into a boarding school for 5,000 Muslim girls. The Charity Commission, brought in by the Pendle MP, blocked the plan, ruling that it was outside their charitable objects. The meeting at Westminster will include representatives of the Charity Commission. The MP said: "I have asked the people acting on behalf of Islamic Help to provide me with relevant reports and documentation beforehand so I can properly brief myself." "There is little point in discussing vague generalities." "I want to know what they are going to do with the site and who they have consulted about their proposals. I shall be asking about their finances and whether all the money has now been returned to those who donated to the school project via the charity’s website." ends |
