Speaking from Westminster, Pendle MP, Gordon Prentice, said: “Some very remarkable individuals survived the horrors of the Holocaust and dedicated their lives to ensure it would never be forgotten by the generations that follow.” The photo shows Pendle MP, Gordon Prentice, signing the Book of Commitment, placed by the Holocaust Educational Trust in the House of Commons. It remembers those who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust. Notes for Editors For further information, please contact Will Wearmouth or Paul Evans from the Holocaust Educational Trust on 020 7222 6822 The Holocaust Educational Trust (HET) was established in 1988 to educate young people from every ethnic background about the Holocaust and the important lessons to be learned for today. HET works in schools, universities and in the community to raise awareness and understanding of the Holocaust. HET regard one of their earliest achievements as ensuring the Holocaust formed part of the National Curriculum for History. You can find out more about the Holocaust Educational Trust’s work at: http://www.het.org.uk/ The purpose of Holocaust Memorial Day is to remember the horrors of the Holocaust and those who perished. The day aims to ensure that the horrendous crimes against humanity committed during the Holocaust are never forgotten, and its relevance for each new generation is understood.
