Local MP, Gordon Prentice, is joining regulars at The Trafalgar Hotel, Railway Street, Nelson, in a campaign to stop this popular Nelson pub from sale and possible closure.

Speaking from Westminster  the MP said: “We all know times are hard and the pub trade is having a difficult time. Nelson pubs such as The Clayton Arms, The General Gordon and The Hour Glass have all closed . But the Trafalgar is a popular and successful concern, and provides a community focus in an area which has few other amenities.”

“I have written to Giles Thorley, Chief Executive of Punch Taverns, in support of the campaign and to ask him to consider talking to the consortium which wants to buy the lease and keep the pub operating.”

“I have also called on the Government to adopt the Campaign for Real Ale’s Last
Orders plan to safeguard the future of Britain's traditional public houses.”
