Pendle MP, Gordon Prentice, is wishing the Clarets every success in Monday’s match against Sheffield United. The game will decide the third promotion place in the Championship Play-Offs.

Speaking from Westminster the MP said “It is a fantastic achievement for the club to get this far. I am told Burnley FC is the second smallest town club in the Championship and has the lowest budget. Many thousands of fans from Pendle will be willing them on on Monday.”

The MP added: “Promotion to the Premier League is arguably the biggest prize in world football. TV rights and increased sponsorship can bring in over £20 million in the first season alone. This increased income along with bigger gates would mean more money being spent in the local area and more employment.”
