Pendle MP, Gordon Prentice, has welcomed the news that Lancashire County Council will be reviewing its gritting operations  following the recent icy conditions in the East of the county.

The MP said: “The gritting clearly left a lot to be desired. We all understand that the Highways Department has to ensure its priority routes– the motorways and “A” roads— are dealt with adequately and if these had to be gritted repeatedly then roads lower down the list can be affected. But people cannot be expected to wait days to get their roads done."

"There are also issues surrounding the empty grit bins reported to me in parts of  the borough and whether the use of large vehicles, which cannot access certain roads, needs to be reconsidered.”

“ The County’s mapping service shows which routes are gritted and should be more widely publicised. It can accessed on the internet at http://mario.lancashire.gov.uk/ .”
