A dossier cataloguing alleged failings and shortcomings of the local NHS, produced by Liberal Democrats in Pendle and Burnley, which includes people “dying in ambulances” should be handed over to the NHS without further delay or procrastination says local MP, Gordon Prentice.

Speaking from Westminster, the MP said: “Horror stories drawn from this dossier have been appearing in the local press for weeks like some long running soap opera. It is time for the Lib Dems to put up or shut up as this endless undermining of the local NHS is really damaging.”

Speaking from Westminster, the MP said: “I want this drip feed of allegations to be investigated point by point by the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust and its sister organisation, the Hospital Trust, and the results should be published widely.”

“I want to see detailed performance statistics published covering all the areas of concern. People need to be reassured our local hospitals are delivering given the shameless shroud waving that is going on by the Liberal Democrats.

"And I want a meeting to be held urgently between Pendle and Burnley councils - involving the leadership of all the political parties – and the Hospital Trust and the PCT.”

Liberal Democrat controlled Pendle and Burnley Councils have called for the sacking of the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust Board.
